Becoming a wife, mother, grandmother and mentor in my future is a blessing that I accept and will continue to progress towards as a woman. There are a couple of things I would like to talk about in regards to how to become a better version of yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want any of you to think I feel as though I am perfect. The only person that is perfect and completely without flaw is God. Everyday, I only aspire and hope to be better physically, mentally and spiritually.
One thing I hope for is becoming married one day and having my own family. I want you all to know that marriage is a huge commitment and in order to have a successful marriage, one must be happy with themselves first. I am single and satisfied because I know that I am not settling for just that title. As a single woman, in a certain aspect, I realize that I am married to God and if I seek him for guidance, he will expose himself to me.
I am a virtuous woman.
A virtuous woman embodies the qualities in which every woman should strive for in her personal life, appearance, family life and in her daily duties. She is also a woman who realizes that jewelry and superficial things do not define her character, but her actions define her character.
“She is strong and respected by the people.
She looks forward to the future with joy.
She speaks wise words, and she teaches others to be kind.
She watches over her family and she is always busy.
Her children bless her, and her husband also praises her.
He says,’ There are many excellent wives, but you are better than them all.’
Charm can fool you, and beauty can trick you
But a woman who respects the Lord shall be praised.”
(Proverbs 31: 10-31)
There is Power in being a Godly Woman.
Marriage is more than the surface things we see on television and on social media. To prepare to be a wife one day, I am realizing that everyday, I am renewing my mindset through Christ. I have to put myself in the position to be found by a man. Women we cannot seek a man. The bible says “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” (Proverbs 18:22) Women are called to be helpmates. We are valuable but we have to have the right mindset first in order to be found.
Marriage is a reflection of Christ’s relationship to the church. A wise woman once told me, “We have to be ready to present ourselves beautifully as a body of Christ to Jesus.”
This is my preparation.
Respect is something a Godly Woman must not only speak but show. I now know that my struggle will need to show the I am a Godly Woman through my flesh. A wife must reflect being a daughter of the king. Although I fall short, I will never give up striving to be better because I have God in me and his word and love are transforming me.
“Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
